Generac Power Systems - Generac engine blows up after only 568 hours on dixie chopper!!!
the generac engine on my dixie chopper blew up after only 568 hours, in comparision with industry average 2000 hours low end 5000 hours high end. talking to a dixie chopper rep.
at a lawn & garden expo in louisville,ky. they had a lot of valve problems that proved to be very costly to the company, they were the only mower company to use generac engines and no longer use them. (really need to wander why !!!!) I asked them if they wouldn't like to tear the engine down to see what happened . They had no interest , referring back to what the dixie chopper rep.
said about the valve issues i believe it to be obvious there lack of interest !!!!!!!!!

had a Rod thrown at a little over 400 hours on 27hp. Cost me $2,500.
I have a DC and the Briggs & Stratton motor worked fine for 10yrs, replaced it with a 27HP Generac it blew the head with less than 50hrs of mowing....3 months after the warranty expired!
I have a 7500 generac generator, has 25 hours and blew up on us. owned it for 3yrs and only used it when lost power. never by a generac
sounds like lack of oil, grease, servicing and operator know how. read the book or pay someone to cut your grass.
This equipment was used commercially along with other brands of equipment. All regularly maintained. And as stated above, company employees verified they had problems with valves.
I have a DC 3374 with less than 400 hours and it blew up on me three weeks ago. Wondering if I could repair and sell the thing or try to sell it without fixing it?
Dixie don't make a 74in mower. try again
You are so dumb.
108 hrs shut off no compression engine is done
I have a D C with a 27 hp Generac, engine blown up at 900 hrs,a valve head snapped ended up in the cylinder blew piston, connecting rod apart,im just out of warranty of course and stuck with this bill on my own,i havent heard much good on these engines although i have a generac generator that runs perfect,i guess im going to try a kohler 27 since ive had great luck with them on other mowers i have, would just like to add i dont think ill ever buy another dixie chopper, had more problems then engine,i had to replace all four wheel motor hydraulic line at about 200 hrs and machine sucks on hills
I have mostly Dixie choppers, and run every kind of motor dc puts on them. generac, kohler, Kawasaki, you name it if dc put it on a mower, iv'e used it.
Now I have never had a mechanical failure of any kind other then a broken wore out cable, or fouled plug or something, but I can say I pay my mechanics to work on mowers only during peak season, and them mowers get serviced once a week if they need it or not. oil and filter change, plugs regapped, and grease job. I pay my guys well and treat them right and they know their way around my mowers, whackers, trimmers and whatever else. My advice to you, get a new mechanic, three mower with the same problems?
not likely. somebody is not doing their job, or somebody is trying to get free bees.
They do have oil in them for a reason. use it.
Generac is a P.O.S. You will see in time.
