Piece of junk will not run

PLEASE DO NOT BUY A GENERAC home system generator. I have been trying to talk to a tech support person. Every time that I get a new number to call, it goes right back to customer service. Generac does not know what customer is. My generator has not been reliable since DAY 1 ! I have had different service companies check out my generator and all have said that it is good. The problem is once they leave, the weekly exercise run shuts down with an overspeed error. When I do lose power the generator , 90% of the time, FAILS to operate! SAVE your money, go and buy a Chinese unit, you will save money and it will run long after you ditch the Generac.

User's recommendation: DO NOT BUY GENERAC PROCTS.

No good service. Need 9000kw ring kit at 550 hours.

Generac's service is out of control. They send me offers bi- monthly for extended service yet they can't even do warranty service. Generac does not know how dealers perform. The dealer, Lenz, tech I used to adjust valves, required after first 25 hours, left loose nut and washer that stuck on ignition magneto so generator wouldn't start. Tech overheated and burned out starter. Took 4 months to replace and tried to charge me $1400 but it was still on warranty and his fault. Dealer has had 100% turnover in techs last 2 years. Tech has never shown up on day promised or called to say not coming. Bummer to have to chase dealer who doesn't know what doing. Generac generators are not reliable or durable. Generac says generators good for 3000 hours. Mine lasted 550 hours and I religiously changed oil and filters ever 100 hours. Bogus. In sum, I haven't had use of my Generac backup power generator for almost a year and have wasted my money and an unbelievable amount of time and brain damage. I am having to cut my losses on Generac and buy a new Onan. Generac is NOT as advertised on reliability or service and their dealer model is not working as no feedback on dealer performance. Problem is systemic and transfering to a manager for help is just a repeat of hearing same things.

User's recommendation: Avoid Generac at all cost or suffer endless problems.

Transfer switch complaint

Generac told me to call local tech to locate if it is a Honeywell transfer problem but made no offer to help me. The warranty ended in Jan and Ive had several problems with the transfer switch and under warranty had one switch replaced at a labor cost to me. I own a lemon

User's recommendation: Buy something else not generac.

System failure

My system is not working. Everything is offline. Customer service was no help whatsoever. I was advised that generac basically has no customer service on the weekend.

User's recommendation: If you want help on weekends, don't buy generac apparently.

Generator doesn't work

I bought a new backup generator this year -- by the time it was installed it cost $30,000. It doesn't work! Two days ago, the power failed. My wife, who has Alzheimer's and osteoporosis and who has had two broken hips in the last 3 years got up to go to the bathroom in the dark and fell! The dealer can't fix it -- he has to call in an expert! I don't want an expert -- I want a new generator that works!

User's recommendation: Do not buy Generac.

Generac Power Washers can be made better

Do First, I should say have two Generac portable generators, and they have worked great since 2003 (Hurricane Isabelle). I purchased this power washer specifically do to the quality of their generators. Here we go. My Power Washer (model # 0000000100********) started to leak where the water enters to housing and flows to the hose (the seals area). I have used this PW about 6 times over the last 19 months. I checked the warranty and it has two-year warranty. I thought I was good. I called customer service and informed them what had happened. The rep was great she gave the local repair shop, but as soon as I said seals, she said "don't waste your time" valves and seals are excluded and are not covered under the warranty. This was disappointing to me for a couple of reasons. 1. Generac clearly knows their seals fail which is why they excluded them from a warranty claim. 2. Why would you sell a product with knowledge that a part an important part would fail and then exclude it from your warranty (rhetorical)? 3. The parts to fix the faulty seals are $61.00 + 11.00 stand shipping= $71.00 for a power washer that cost $359.99. That is 20% of the total cost of a new power washer. If you have a seal and a valve fail, you are looking at an approximate cost of 40% of a new washer. This is very discouraging for all the owners of your products. Not to mention if you take it to a repair shop. You might as well purchase another power washer (clearly not Generac). 4. Whoever oversees product development, why would you use inferior seals and or valves in your pressure washers? And then sell them for a few hundred to several hundred dollars to your customers? This is not being responsible to your customers. This is just plain lazy! You should use a higher quality seal and charge accordingly. My rating for this Pressure Washer is ZERO stars. Not for the machine itself, but for the people who designed a product to fail within a short period of time. Generac you can and should make better pressure washers.

User's recommendation: Do not purchase any power washer from Generac until the start using better seals and valves.

Terrible Service

I went on-line to Generac Headquarters. I get all the listings of how to call to speak with a Generac technician. The sites are terrible. No numbers are given. The sites that do come up do not pertain to Generac generators and the robot tech does not even address my simple question. Update your site!!1
